Contemporary Ceramics. Handmade Pottery

I throw small batches of functional ware, such as mugs, bowls and vases, on the wheel.

Up to now, I have worked mainly in white stoneware clay but I am now exploring new clay bodies that remain dark when fired or are strongly flecked. Because the tactile nature of handmade pots is important to me, I like to decorate my work by creating a contrast between glazed and unglazed areas or by carving the clay at 'leatherhard’ stage. My glazing is generally simple and exact, often in various shades and textures of white.
