Cheerful, colourful kitchen textiles and cushions; bright & vibrant fruit, veg & nature paintings/prints, greeting cards; ceramic bowls and platters.
I took up art again around 19 years ago, having done nothing at all since my O Levels in the blazing summer of 1976! I study at the wonderful Queensgate Studios in South Kensington under the expert tutelage of Linda Bennion and her team. I also paint at home in our sunny conservatory in Shepherd’s Bush. My paintings of fruit, vegetables and flowers are mainly oils on canvas, whilst birds, fish, cats and dogs are watercolours. A couple of years ago I started making pottery under the watchful eye of supremely talented local ceramicist Jose Carvalho.
My expansion into textiles started with having tea towels made to give to friends for Christmas. I so enjoyed taking elements of my work and turning them into textile designs that I now have a range of aprons, oven gloves, tea towels and cushion covers available, as well as greeting cards. In 2018 I expanded the collection to include melamine trays and chopping boards. I started selling at local fairs and as part of Urban Makers at Old Spitalfields Market.
Painting is my way to relax, balancing my other life as a music supervisor for television commercials and copywriter for various food/hospitality clients.
